This Stanat TA-315 Reversing Combination Rolling Mill is a versatile laboratory and pilot-scale platform designed for precision strip rolling, alloy development, and advanced materials research. The mill can be configured for 2-high or 4-high operation, providing flexibility to optimize rolling conditions across a wide range of materials, starting gauges, and finished thickness targets.
The reversing configuration allows multiple controlled passes without rethreading, making the mill well suited for developmental work, short production runs, and process optimization. A rigid frame design provides stability and repeatability, particularly for thin-gauge rolling applications where consistent control is critical. This platform is commonly used in research and specialty manufacturing environments where tight thickness control and process repeatability are important, while final results remain dependent on material behavior and rolling strategy.
Power Screwdown System
The mill will be equipped with two new heavy-duty power screwdown gearboxes driven by inverter-duty motors with absolute encoders, mounted on a precision Blanchard-ground base plate. The complete power screwdown assembly is installed directly onto the mill heads and screw mechanisms, providing accurate and repeatable roll gap adjustment under load.
All screwdown controls are located in a swing-arm operator station, allowing smooth, synchronized adjustment during setup and rolling. This system supports finer gauge control, improved repeatability, and easier operator adjustment, particularly during thin-gauge and multi-pass rolling operations.
Coil-to-Coil Winding and Tension Control System
The mill will be supplied with two new independent winders designed for coil-to-coil reversing operation. Each winder is independently driven to provide stable, automatically regulated strip tension throughout the rolling process.
Unlike manual or legacy winding systems that require frequent operator intervention as coil diameters change, this configuration maintains consistent tension automatically from start to finish. This significantly simplifies mill operation, reduces the need for constant adjustments, and allows the operator to focus on pass schedule control and material behavior rather than tension correction.
The system supports consistent tension as coil diameters build, providing the level of control required for thin-gauge strip handling, improved winding quality, and repeatable rolling conditions. Independent winder control also allows flexibility for experimental setups and sensitive materials.
Each Winder will include:
Independent 10 HP Inverter Duty AC Gearmotor
Magnetic Particle Clutch / Brake System for Fine Tune Tension Control
Closed-Loop Vector Drive System with Constant-Tension Center-Wind Control
Laser Measurement for Real-Time Coil Diameter Feedback
12" Diameter Solid Winding Drums
