The IRM Model 4H6D2S is a purpose-built 4-head strip brushing machine designed for surface preparation applications, particularly pre-bonding cleaning of metal strips and foils where surface contamination removal and oxide layer treatment are critical to bond quality. This machine excels at preparing materials for subsequent bonding, laminating, or coating operations by providing controlled, consistent brushing action across the strip width.

Four brushing heads (two top, two bottom) with 6" diameter brushes ensure thorough surface contact and cleaning action. The hardened and chromed 6" diameter supporting rolls are height-adjustable to accommodate varying material thicknesses up to 0.125".

Four independent 7.5 HP, 3500 RPM brush motors provide ample power for aggressive surface preparation when needed, while the reversible operation allows for brush sharpening and extended tool life. All brush heads are controlled from a central operating station, streamlining operator workflow and ensuring consistent processing parameters.

The machine accommodates strip widths up to 4" and includes adjustable strip guides throughout the pass line to maintain material positioning and prevent edge damage during brushing. A built-in recoiler with 1,500 lb capacity features a 1.5 HP DC variable-speed motor (0-50 FPM) and 10" air clutch for precise tension control, essential for maintaining strip flatness during surface preparation.

This brushing machine is designed for both inline and offline surface preparation applications. In inline configuration, the precision force monitoring and integrated recoiler enable synchronized processing with bonding mills or coating lines for continuous workflow operations. For offline operations, the machine provides controlled batch processing with consistent parameter control for pre-treating material ahead of subsequent bonding or laminating processes.

The integrated 5" diameter dust collection port allows connection of appropriate filtration systems for material removal and operator safety.
