Description

The Fenn Model 4-081 is a compact, work-roll-driven four-high rolling mill engineered for applications requiring precise pressure control and consistent contact across the roll face. The work-roll-driven configuration provides direct, controlled pressure without slip variations, making it well-suited for bonding applications, laminating operations, precision cold rolling, and specialized processes where uniform pressure distribution is critical.

The 2.25" diameter work rolls backed by 8" backup rolls deliver excellent pressure distribution while maintaining the flexibility needed for processing materials of different thicknesses or hardness levels. The 8" roll width accommodates strip, sheet coupons, and continuous coil processing when configured with appropriate coiling equipment.

Dual handwheel roll gap adjustment provides precise control with either simultaneous or independent screw-down capability. This level of control is essential for achieving repeatable results across different material combinations and process requirements, whether for reduction rolling, laminating, or pressure-sensitive operations.

The mill features a 25 HP eddy current variable-speed drive. While the existing drive system is believed to be functional, upgrading to modern AC drive and PLC controls may be beneficial for improved speed regulation, energy efficiency, process monitoring, and integration with data acquisition systems.

Entry and exit tables are included and facilitate efficient material handling for piece processing. The mill can also be configured with coilers for continuous strip processing applications, expanding its capability for production runs and longer material lengths.
