Fioa 4.25″ x 8″ 2-High Rod & Wire Rolling Mill - Dual-Head Configuration with Integrated Powered Capstan
Overview:
This mill is configured with two rolling heads for progressive rod/wire reduction. The mill was taken offline from a running production environment and is well suited for R&D, prototype development, specialty alloy trials, and small-batch rod and wire processing.
The machine is equipped with approximately 4.25″ diameter x 8″ face width rolls in each head and is driven by a 7.5 HP main drive motor.
Rolling Configuration & Pass Schedule:
This mill is arranged with two independent rolling heads utilizing approximately 37 modified-square grooves across both heads for progressive rod/wire reduction:
Primary Head - Larger Grooves:
Approximately 9 grooves, estimated to cover reductions from approximately 20 mm down to 10 mm with the rolls fully closed.
Secondary Head - Smaller Grooves
Approximately 28 grooves, estimated to cover reductions from approximately 10 mm down to 1 mm with the rolls fully closed.
Note: Groove sizes and working ranges are approximate estimates with the rolls fully closed. Larger rod/wire may be accommodated by opening the rolls depending on material condition and reduction strategy. Actual achievable reductions and pass percentages will vary with material, temper, lubrication, roll condition, and annealing practice. Each head’s rolls are currently configured for water cooling, if required for the application.
Integrated Powered Capstan:
The secondary head includes an integrated powered capstan for tension control and take-up during smaller-diameter rolling. The capstan features an approximate 6″ diameter drum powered by a 1/2 HP motor, assisting in stable fine-wire handling and coiling.
Applications:
Research & development environments
Specialty alloy rod/wire trials
Pilot-scale material development
Small production runs requiring staged reduction
